DCHK CPD Program for Practising Dentists
Dear Dental
Colleagues,
The Dental Council of Hong Kong continues to implement a voluntary continuing
education program for practising dentists after the
first cycle of such a program has ended on 30 June 2005. The purpose of the
program is to encourage practicing dentists to keep themselves up-to-date on
current developments in clinical dental practice so as to maintain a high
professional standard.
The program has the following adjustments:
a) re-titled
as “Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program for Practising Dentists”;
b) the
present cycle is 3 years (i.e. from 1 Jan 2008 to 31 December 2010);
c) a
minimum of 45 credit points will be required for this cycle.
Any practising dentist who is interested in
the Program should only enroll with ONE
of the CPD Program Administrators appointed by the Dental Council. The College
of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong has been reappointed as one of the CPD Program
Administrators and Accreditors. We will be
responsible for vetting, documenting and calculating the CPD scores for practising dentists enrolled with us during the CPD cycle
and reporting the total CPD points to the Dental Council at the end of the CPD
cycle. Dentists who wish to enroll with us should complete the attached enrolment
form and return the same to us. An enrollment
fee of HK$1,000 will be charged as administrative fee for the whole cycle (i.e.
The Dental Council has also appointed a number of CPD Service
Providers including The College of Dental Surgeons of Hong Kong. The CPD
activities organized by these CPD Program Providers will automatically attract
CPD points. The CPD activities arranged by associations other than these CPD Service
Providers will not attract any CPD points unless they have been accredited by
the CPD Program Accreditors upon application submitted
prior to the activities.
Dentists in the Program should sign the attendance form at meetings organized
by the CPD Service Providers, or forward their copy of the proof of attendance to
us after attending other accredited meetings, in order to have the CPD points
recorded. Please do not send the attendance certificates to us after signing on
the form in order to avoid double entries.
